TAN REPUBLIC SPONSORS SARA MCKEEVER, MRS. OREGON FOR 2024
Tan Republic is proud to sponsor Sara Mckeever, crowned Mrs. Oregon, 2024! We recently caught up with Sara during a photoshoot and she was so kind to answer some questions as she prepares for the competition in Las Vegas this August (2024).
I am Sara Mckeever. I am your recently crowned Mrs. Oregon American 2024. I am a huge Advocate for suicide prevention and Mental Health and I love to volunteer for many different organizations. I have been married to my husband for 12 years who is an Army Veteran and we have two beautiful rainbow children. (Rainbows after the storms) I am excited to represent Oregon this August at Nationals in Las Vegas for the Mrs. American division.
What inspired you to compete for Mrs. Oregon?
I wanted to get out my comfort zone. I actually had a fear of speaking. Stutter problem when younger. And a domestic violence survivor who never spoke unless spoken too. So I wanted to find something to help with public speaking.
Can you describe a typical day in your life?
I am a mom of two girls, wife to an Army veteran and a full time employee with the Department of Defense as a Tactical Preventionist. My spare time I volunteer and my day starts by waking up at 5 am and get a workout in.
What are your top beauty and wellness tips?
Drink water and get your protein intake right. Exfoliate always before self tanner so that you have a perfect even tan!
How would you describe your personal style?
I am pretty random in styles… I grew up country so I love a dress or jeans pared with boots. But I also love an athletic attire and I do love to get all dolled up.
What causes are you most passionate about and why?
Suicide prevention and mental health are my top passions. I also love to advocate for domestic violence prevention and infertility awareness. All have personal ties. I love to volunteer for many causes…
What challenges have you faced and how did you overcome them?
Well I tend to joke my life should be a Netflix documentary because you name it I’ve been through it. But all jokes aside to overcome something you just have to go through it and take it all in and feel every emotion that comes with it. Just keep pushing through because there’s a reason that you’re in that situation.
What projects are you currently working on in your community?
I am very active with the Matthew Unrein Memorial Foundation to bring awareness around suicide awareness, bringing awareness around infertility, helping military, and first responders.
Do you have a role model or someone who’s inspired you in life?
My great grandmother Evelyn has always been my role model. She was always kind and a giver. She dedicated herself to making sure my little sister and I were ok. And I also tend to look up to those who get back up from being knocked down.
What are your future goals as Mrs. Oregon?
I want to continue to share my story and provide resources to those struggling. I also have a huge passion to help youth. I want to be the mentor where I hope to help youth know that there not alone.
What advice would you give to someone wanting to compete in pageants?
DO IT! My life changed in pageantry. The amount of self growth I’ve experienced is astounding. I am proud to say it helped me find myself. I also have made life long friends.
